Our Mission

Animal Eye Care of Pennsylvania is an independently owned specialty clinic providing world-class veterinary ophthalmology from two convenient locations in King of Prussia and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Our mission is to preserve vision whenever possible and relieve pain and discomfort when vision cannot be restored. We provide compassionate, advanced eye care for dogs, cats, horses, birds, reptiles, and exotic pets—always delivered with empathy and clinical excellence.

What is a Veterinary Ophthalmologist

A veterinary ophthalmologist is a veterinarian who has completed years of advanced specialty training focused entirely on the eyes and vision. After earning their veterinary degree, these doctors complete a 3–4 year ophthalmology residency and must pass a rigorous board certification exam to become Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (DACVO).

Board-certified specialists like Dr. Mundy diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions—such as cataracts, glaucoma, corneal ulcers, retinal disease, and eyelid abnormalities—using advanced medical and surgical techniques. Their expertise ensures your pet receives the highest standard of eye care available.

Dr. Patricia Mundy is a Cambridge-trained, board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist dedicated to preserving vision and improving quality of life for pets. Known for her kind, detail-oriented approach, she specializes in diagnosing and treating complex eye conditions such as cataracts, corneal ulcers, glaucoma, and retinal disorders.

A graduate of the University of Cambridge (Pembroke College)—one of the world’s leading universities—Dr. Mundy earned both her Master’s in Geography and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (VetMB) in 2005. She went on to complete a small-animal internship at the Royal Veterinary College (London) and a Fellowship in Comparative Ophthalmic Pathology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, one of only twenty such fellowships awarded worldwide.

She later completed a Comparative Ophthalmology

Residency at Cornell University, and subsequently served as lead ophthalmologist for the NYPD K-9 Unit, ASPCA, and Animal Care & Control of NYC. Her blend of surgical

expertise and compassionate care has earned the trust of both pet owners and referring veterinarians across the region.

From 2016 to 2020, Dr. Mundy was a faculty clinician and lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (PennVet), where she trained veterinary students, residents, and practitioners. During this time, she also earned a Master of Laws (ML) from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, focusing on diversity and inclusion in veterinary medicine, telemedicine law, and corporate governance. In 2024 Dr Mundy was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (FRCVS); the highest honor that can be bestowed on a veterinarian in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Mundy continues to consult on veterinary board case reviews for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, combining her legal insight and clinical experience to strengthen ethical standards in the profession.
